Manual machines feature a simple design and rely primarily on human labor for tasks such as substrate filling, seed placement, and soil covering; while they are cost-effective and suitable for small-scale or home-based operations, their efficiency is limited.
Semi-automatic machines mechanize specific stages of the process-such as substrate filling, dibbling (creating planting holes), or sowing-yet still require manual intervention for tasks like loading and unloading trays or replenishing materials. Widely used in small-to-medium-sized seedling nurseries, these machines strike a favorable balance between efficiency and cost.
Fully automatic machines integrate the entire workflow-including substrate supply, automatic sowing, soil covering, watering, and tray discharge-enabling virtually unmanned operation. Typically employed in large-scale agricultural seedling centers (such as industrial vegetable seedling facilities), these machines offer high efficiency as well as superior sowing precision and consistency, though they entail higher initial investment and maintenance costs.
